PADI Discover Scuba Diving Experience is the best way to get involved in the activity of Scuba Diving.
Have you ever wondered what it’s like to breathe underwater? If you want to find out but aren’t quite ready to take the plunge into a certification course then Discover Scuba Diving will let you try scuba to see if you like it.
While it is not an actual scuba certification course, during the Discover Scuba Diving experience you’ll learn how to use scuba equipment in shallow water and get a quick and easy introduction to what it takes to explore the underwater world.
There is nothing like breathing underwater for the very first time. It takes a little getting used to – after all, human beings weren’t designed to do that – but after a few minutes of awestruck wonder, most participants realise how easy scuba diving really is. The biggest challenge instructors have with the Discover Scuba Diving program is not coaxing participants into the water, but coaxing them out when the program is over. The fun part? It’s all fun!
You learn the basics you need to dive under the direct supervision of a PADI Professional. One thing you’ll learn is that you really can breath underwater and whether you like doing that or not.
You will learn:
- Learn what wearing scuba equipment feels like and how easy it is to move around underwater while wearing it,
- Find out what it’s like to breath underwater and learn whether you can be comfortable there,
- Learn some basic skills and safety rules that will carry over to your full scuba certification course when you decide take the next step.
Discover Scuba lets you experience the thrill of Scuba Diving in a highly supervised, relaxed manner with a qualified Scuba Instructor by your side at all times. Safe, fun and exciting, the PADI Discover Scuba Diving experience lets you try scuba for yourself.
You will be under the constant guidance of a PADI professional who will teach the basic safety concepts, put on equipment and swim around underwater in a closely supervised environment.
Discover Scuba diving can take place in a swimming pool, protected confined open water area and at an open water dive site - anywhere appropriate, positive introduction to Scuba is possible. You choose which you prefer!
A typical Discover Scuba Expereince day includes:
1. A safety/tuition of all equipment and the basics as well as an information video.
2. A short quiz to ensure that you have learnt what you have been taught.
3. The dive 1-2 hours in duration. Your choice of either open water (ie. at the Gold Coast Seaway or Pool dive).

Participant Guidelines
Minimum age is 12 years
Please supply personal items i.e: swimwear, towel, sunblock etc.

Booking Notes
Each participant must sign the PADI Discover Scuba Diving affirmation of risk and medical history screen before entering water. Parent or gaurdian signature required for new divers younger than legal age.
If a new diver answers yes to any condition on the forms medical history screen, the diver must receive a medical approval prior to any in water activity.
